¬ Academy Information

The year start the 1st of April, and each year is divided in school terms. The summer holidays run from mid-July to end-of-August, but the Academy remains open for club activities as well as make-up classes for students who have to repeat exams. A detailed calendar listing the school main events is available on OPHS main billboard.

The Academy gates are open  from 7a.m to 8a.m on mornings. Homeroom last until the first lecture at 8.30a.m. Once closed, students who will arrive late will have to explain themselves to the School Warden. Gates will open again for starting 3.30p.m and the end of classes, and will remain open until 7p.m for the end of club activities.

The Academy canteen “Baratie” is open from 11a.m to 2p.m. Outside of this time, students can buy snacks and fast-food at the “Spider Café”. Students are requested to pay for their food and not to help themselves in the storage facilities. If any food stock is missing and the culprit is found, sanctions will be taken.

If any accident occurs, please head to the Academy Infirmary  for the treatment of your bruises. Students are requested to help their nakamas in case they wouldn’t be feeling well enough to go to the infirmary alone. The medical staff will be in service at the Academy Infirmary from 7a.m to 7p.m and then at the Dorms Infirmary from 7p.m to 7a.m with rotating shifts. A general medical examination will also be conducted twice a year on all students to ensure no serious illness is affecting them. Students absent the day of the examination will have to book a private examination with the medical staff later on. If any student is affected by any special health condition they are requested to inform the medical staff and fill in the adequate form.

¬ Studies & Graduation

Students are chosen based on their files, no exam entrance are required. Submit your complete student application and once the OPHS staff validates it, you will be free to enjoy your school life. Requesting to become a student means you agree to the Academy set of rules and values. Students are required to read, remember & follow this guidebook once on-campus.

Each grade will be grouped into one class who will be taught core homeroom lessons together. On the other hand, elective classes group students from all grades. Grades are decided based on the age of students, but in case a student would have some personal special circumstances (e.g. health issues, mental issues, multiple transfers…) that would have prevented a normal school life, they will be placed in the grade matching their level.

Reference textbooks are allowed during exams and when submitting papers as long as the students credits the reference used in their works (credit any base, background, logo, texture used in drawings submitted to OPHS gallery). Quoting references from teachers is also allowed but not the quote of your fellow students (imitating Oda-sensei’s style is fine, but do not use or trace the work of an amateur fanartist). If a student is caught doing so, his work will be rejected and he will receive a warning. Past three warnings, sanctions will be taken.

The Academy encourage students to be more active and involved in their studies. Therefore, private tutoring is approved and students’ homework made during that time may be invited to the Academy (you can submit commissions to the group gallery as long as you are a member).

Students are requested to be active in their school life. If they do not take part in any event despite having applied for being a student, they will have to repeat classes and might even have to drop out from school. If that is the case, we still encourage motivated student to follow our long-distance-teachings (please ”Watch” OPHS only if you do not plan on being active).

Students who wish to finally set out towards their future should submit a Graduation Application so that the staff will organize a final testing as well as a farewell party. Kindly note that once graduated, a student might still be involved at OPHS as Alumni.

¬ School Life

Students are required to wear proper attire when attending OPHS. The school uniform is mandatory on school grounds and all students will be provided with a complete set of summer & winter uniform as well as a sports uniform upon registration at OPHS.
School uniforms are been made to measure to fit all size and measurements, and will adapt to Zoan and Logia abilities. Students are responsible to take care of their uniforms, and dorms’ laundry is open 24/7 in that optic. In case your uniform would be stolen or irremediably damaged, please contact OPHS staff for replacement.
Club Uniforms designs are to be approved by the Student Council before being made and distributed to their members, and shall respect the Academy colour theme and logos. Personal outfits are allowed during training sessions but not during official competitions or festivals, as students will need to show off OPHS spirit in their outfits on such days.
Students are allowed to wear personal accessories and jewelry as long as they are not too showy or dangerous, and can customize their schoolbags as long as it doesn’t look too offensive. Personal outfits are allowed inside the dorms as long as it is proper attire (sloppy, sexy or provocative outfits are not allowed). The Student Council is in charge of being sure students can express their personalities while respecting the school fashion rules.

Marine Gakuen, our twin academy, is mostly off-limits due to a long history of bad relationship between our respective students/alumni/boards of directors. You are requested to inform OPHS staff if you find some Marine student wandering on the campus grounds without proper visitor badge. Similarly, you are requested to proceed through the official visitor program if you wish to walk around Marine Gakuen.
Getting into fights with Marine Students is thus forbidden inside and outside the Academies grounds, and shall be severely punished as it only contributes to alienate both Academies more.
A truce will be applied during the Sports and Cultural Festivals, and all students are requested to respect this truce if they do not wish to meet a fate worse than death. If rivalry there should be, let it be as sportsmen and students will have the opportunity to challenge Marine Gakuen for the Sports Competitions, and we hope students can keep their burning motivation to win over the trophies during these finals.

Love relationships are tolerated at school as long as they do not hinder classes / other students / Academy relative peace. Dating will never be considered a valid excuse for breaking the Academy rules and thus we request students to enjoy the freedom of liking whoever they like, however they like and wherever they like within the limits of all the rules stated in this handbook.
As a direct consequence, it is thus not allowed for dating students to share a room in dormitory, as genders are separated for once, and even same gender couples would disrupt the peace of their third roommate if living together.

Students are requested to turn off their Den-Den-Mushi during classes. A special chatroom has been allocated for students to share the fun with their friends without disrupting lessons and self-study sessions.

Several School Events will be organized and animated by OPHS staff and the Student Council along the year. Students will be informed through proper journal publications and each event will be explained in details with its own set of rules if needed. Participation to such events is not mandatory but is highly recommended as a fun way to learn many things.

Similarly, School Trips will also be planned ahead of time and explained in details by the Student Council to each Grade Representative, and proper journal will be published to validate students participation and give them the list of things to prepare before the trips.

¬ Dorm Life

Rooms Allocation is decided by OPHS staff and will generally include 3 students from the same gender but from different grades, in order to promote sempai-kohai relationship.
Students can only request a change of room under very serious motive such as bullying, thief, impossibility to study peacefully in their previous room, etc… Such application should be made to OPHS Staff who will verify the information before taking their decision.

Boys & Girls have separate dormitories for obvious reasons, but dorms laundry, dorms infirmary and dorms canteen are common grounds. Dorm Headmasters will ensure that no student from the other dorm is wandering on their grounds, and sanctions will be taken if culprits are found out. Both dormitories will only be open to other students during School Events, and proper letter of information will be published beforehand to notify the students of the measure.

Curfew Time will be 10pm during weekdays and 11pm on weekends. Students are not allowed to leave their rooms or to make noise after that time in order not to disrupt other students. Dorm Headmasters are responsible for the respect of this curfew and are allowed to punish students found guilty of having broken curfew time.

Special Permission shall be granted to students with part-time jobs or students visiting their family, so that they can enter and leave the Academy grounds at convenient times. In case such permission would be abused, the guilty student will be forbidden to apply for another one for a certain amount of time ranging from one month to one full year.

Dorms will remain open during holidays for students unable or not wishing to leave the Academy during these periods. Special room allocation will be made during that time, and the dorms canteen will also change timetable, so students are required to read carefully the Holiday Notice distributed before holidays to stay tuned with the changes.

¬ Student Ethics

Real pirates earn their bounty by their own merits, not based on imaginary crimes others imagine. Never-minding the reason or ‘excuses’ given, insults, gossips & defamation won’t be tolerated on the Academy grounds. Students have to mind their comments on OPHS page and gallery, as well as under other students’ deviations. During RP, students are asked to respect other characters, students and staff alike (not making them OOC, not drawing them OOC or in a degrading situation, etc…)

Real pirates follow their dreams instead of stepping on others’ dreams. Bullying won’t be tolerated between students (no hate/anti deviations, no bashing, no harsh criticism, etc…). If any student is caught bullying another even outside of the Academy ground, they will be expelled from the Academy.

Real pirates do not fight like old women and refer to Davy Jones when the situation needs it. Thus, serious fights are forbidden at the Academy. If any student wishes to duel another one, they might apply to the Student Council to organize a Davy Back Fight.

Real pirates accumulate treasures, not destroy them. So if any damage is caused to the school proprieties by students, the people held responsible for the damages will have to pay reparation and arrange the payment of the related fees with the Student Council.

Real pirates know when to hold back their greed when there are on neutral territories. Consequently, borrowings without consent, robbery and kidnappings won’t be tolerated on the academy grounds. If you wish to borrow something from a fellow student (their background stock, their OC, etc…) kindly ask for their approval first. In case a student will be caught stealing (e.g. taking a drawing, recolouring it and posting it as their own), this student will be immediately expelled and handed over to our Twin Academy (Marine Academy).
